Ok. I have owned a Magellan, Garmin and also a lower end GPS by Lowrance. All were more expensive than this one. Been a user of GPS devices, civilian and military for over 8 years. ALL TESTS DONE IN CONNECTICUT.

Im more impressed with this XROAD than my previous ones. Within 30 seconds of powering it up, found GPS SIGNAL ( I was standing outside my house). All my other GPS units, if your are in a BUS, or in a building have trouble connecting to GPS, so I dont understand why people are even trying to do this anyways, when do you drive into a building? This is typical of any GPS when obstructed views. BMW 3 series GPS, while riding with this, was slower in response and dropouts at the same points. I think most people reviewing havent had much experience with other GPS units.

- Needs carrying case (can use an hard drive soft pad case works well, fits AC adapter also)
- Night time mode is great
- POI menus are decent
- Redirecting after changing route is very very fast.
- Uses Xvid codec for AVI file player
- Plays MP3s
- 2GB Card is almost full, so a 4GB card would be nice to keep both map data and MP3s or movies.

Would def. recommend for first time GPS user, or more advanced user. Dont be fooled by the low price, it is worth more than what you paid for.
