(More customer reviews)I bought this to keep an eye on my trailer with the backup camera as well as allow my wife to enter in data to the GPS while driving. I understand GM locking out the video for the driver, but for the front seat passenger, it is silly to prevent them from seeing what is on the screen. Another benefit to a very litigious society....
In any case, this unit takes about half an hour to install if you are working very carefully. Prying off the front cover made me very nervous because if it breaks, you are screwed. In the end it came off ok, a few socket style bolts and the unit came out. It is then a matter of adding Y connectors to put this unit in between the display and the harnesses for the radio. All the connectors are keyed and this went quickly. There is a wire that has to be run under the front passenger seat to control the rear camera. I don't like splices so I soldered/ and insulated it and that went well. It all goes back together in just a few minutes.
The good: Unit allowed me to look at rear camera while driving. It allowed all the GPS functions. It allowed the front video to work. BUT:
The bad: Unit would only stay working for 2 minutes and had to be reset.
Service from TV and Nav to go was very good. They were responsive and sent me another 2 units to try, but each and every one did the SAME thing. It was very disappointing and time consuming. TV and Nav to go offered me a refund, but what I really wanted was a working unit. I tried several wire harnesses and different units without any success. I don't know if it will work for others, but in my 08 Yukon Denali, it never worked as advertised.
In the end, I reluctantly kept the unit for the backup camera feature. There is another company that sells these, complete with on-line video of how to install, but their reputation and service appears worse and they would not respond whether it would work with my truck or not.
