The orientation is adjustable and still firm for use. I have a clear view of the screen. The assembly is not inexpensive but the components are well made and rugged. The installation was about an hour of work, but I am very pleased with its functionality. I had previously tried a mount that attaches to the heating vent- it was useless and dangerous because I had to fiddle with it while I was driving. Don't bother with those. This dolder is secure and and holds the phone in a firm grip.
