Pros:
If one is meticulous in following set-up instructions, mount alignment wil be quite accurate. DON'T forget to reset hours either ahead of or behind GMT according to your location or YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS with accuracy.
Software updates are readily available and FREE!
Works with either 8 AA battteries or plug-in electrical power.
Cons:
Much of the data (other than Messier and IC targets)is difficult to dicipher (i.e. try looking up a Albireo by name!)
The tracking mode is quite jerky and shakes the image from side-to-side unless one place scope on "stop" mode.
As with any tripod Go-To mount, any accidental tripping over or kidding the legs will throw off your allignment and system will need to be shut down and scope possibly releveled on mount.
If battery life begins to drain and you decide to connect electrical power while mount is still on, it will mess your allignment up and you'll have to shut down and start over again.

The SmartStar-G comes with our patented Alt-Azimuth telescope mount, a.k.a. The Cube. This compact mount design is probably the most functional and flexible unit on the market. Both axis motors are built into a small single unit which is universally compatible with all telescopes using a dove-tail connection. In addition, there are no "dead spots" - so you can point your telescope to ANYWHERE above the horizon, whereas, other mounts block the telescope tube at certain points of rotation. This mount also comes standard with AC connection. An optional DC adaptor is availabale so you can plug your telescope motor into your car if you're camping or at any remote location. The GoTo Nova Controller is much easier to use than other similar products. The hand controller is more intuitive with menu categories better organized. It also has a larger LCD screen with more lines of content compared with the competition. Using the easy-to-use hand controller and its large LCD screen, you can easily set up your telescope and select where you want to go.
